Established in 2021This year we banded together to re-establish the UConn Equine Club. With our passion for the equine industry and eagerness to network, we hope to make experiences both fun and professional to last a life time.
|
Our GoalAlthough we are navigating through a pandemic, we want to make the club as interactive (virtually or socially distanced) as possible. We understand first hand the importance of using your resources to gain knowledge and involvement during your college experience.

Lisa Streff
UConn Horse Unit Manager & Instructor |
Lisa grew up in Rochester, New York on her family's small horse farm where she developed a passion for the equine industry. During her childhood, she participated in the local 4-H horse program and showed in hunter/jumper and eventing. In 2011, Lisa graduated from Delaware Valley College with a B.S. Degree in Animal Science and a concentration in Equine Science. During her undergraduate career and prior to graduate school, Lisa spent 5 years working in Standardbred breeding facilities and participated in national and international Standardbred sales.
In 2014, Lisa earned her Master’s Degree in Animal Science at Colorado State University. While at CSU, she investigated the presence of exogenous plant miRNA, absorbed from feedstuffs, in equine serum and tissue. In addition, she collaborated on additional research projects focused in equine reproduction. Lisa then moved to Virginia where she was the Equine Manager for the Animal and Poultry Science Department at Virginia Tech. During her time at Virginia Tech, she taught independent study courses that focused on mare and foal management as well as equine behavior and training courses. With another faculty member, she led a group of equine students on a trip to Austria and Germany where she earned a Bronze Reitahzeichen Certification at the Brandenburg State Stud at Neustadt Dosse. |
